[fa icon="calendar"] Aug 8, 2019, 10:37:17 AM / by Abigail Goodin

In this digital age, we sometimes forget to take time to ‘unplug’ and connect with each other and the beauty that surrounds us. We’ve compiled some great places that could allow your family to make some even greater memories in commemoration of #NationalRelaxationDay - which we believe should be everyday. Let’s take you on a journey across Jamaica as we explore its many gems!

Our first stop is the beautiful Blue & John Crow Mountains, National Park...

This park is one of the richest biodiversity sites in the world and a nature lover's paradise. Just a one-hour drive from the capital city of Kingston, this stunning broadleaf forest bears the footprints of two of the oldest communities in the Caribbean - the Amerindian Taino and the Windward Maroons and offers natural wonders, bird-watching, hiking, walking tours, camping and so much more!

Our journey continues to Croydon in the Mountain!

This working plantation situated in the foothills of the Catadupa Mountains, about 20 minutes south of Montego Bay, provides a breathtaking and panoramic view of the countryside. Sample exotic and delicious fruits and drinks made right there. This highly enjoyable tour includes a delicious barbecue lunch, served with world-famous Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee. This beautiful experience includes natural wonders, bird-watching, gardens, plantation tours and walking tours.

Up next we’re taking a trip to The Cranbrook Flower Forest and River Head Adventure Trail...

A luxurious and breathtaking eco-tourism attraction nestled on 130 acres of tropical forest, including 40 acres of landscaped gardens, Cranbrook includes a hiking trail along the Little River that leads to the cathedral-like source of the river with a refreshing 14-foot-deep pool. Found in Llandovery, St. Ann, you can see dozens of tropical plants, flowers and birds, relax by the river or frolic on the four large lawns. A nature-lovers dream!

Now, we’re moving on over to Island Gully Falls!

Island Gully Falls also known as The Blue Hole, is a hidden treasure located in the hills of Ocho Rios, St Ann. Its scenic beauty and serenity make it one of the most sought after locations in Jamaica. Once a private property, it’s now open to the public, with guided tours along the river. Enjoy the beautiful and exhilarating waterfall climb, take stunning pictures, cliff dive, snorkel, swing from the rope and have an adventure! Despite what 90’s R&B group TLC says, you should definitely go chasing this waterfall!

Let’s take a look at the luxurious Reach Falls!

Reach Falls is a lovely eco attraction hidden in the Montane Forest on the John Crow Mountain Range. The attraction offers a unique blend of comfort, relaxation, and adventure. Reach Falls is centred on an exotic waterfall cascading down a rock face into a crystal river pool. The lush greenery from the Montane Forest and the refreshing pool beneath the cascading waterfall promises to be a memorable experience.

We can't forget Old Spanish Bridge

Enjoy a refreshing swim or experience the thrill of rope swinging off the Old Spanish Bridge in the hills of Ocho Rios. The refreshing and clear waters of the White River, flow through this beautiful spot and the banks of the river are perfect for a picnic or barbecue.

And for a garden get-away, Castleton Gardens or Hope Gardens...

If you’re looking for a picnic spot with beautiful gardens, beautiful scenery and a relaxed environment we also recommend Castleton Botanical Gardens, a one-hour drive from Strawberry Hills located along the main Kingston-to-Annotto Bay road (A3) just over the border from St. Andrew and Hope Botanical Gardens found on the Liguanea plains of St. Andrew!

These are top Jamaican gems! What other attractions on our beautiful island scream #relaxtionday for you?
